Supporting Your Child to Read

Phonics Schemes

We use Floppy’s Phonics to teach our EYFS and KS1 pupils phonics. This is a systematic and structured programme with built-in revision to ensure every child succeeds. It uses step-by-step phonics teaching using the characters that they will meet in their story books, Biff, Chip and Kipper. A rigorous teaching sequence makes phonics teaching effective and simple as well as being perfectly matched to Letters and Sounds.

Reading Schemes

We use Oxford Reading Tree as our main reading scheme. This follows on from Floppy’s Phonics teaching. Children are encouraged to read as often as possible at home (little and often) to support their development in reading. Please speak to your child’s class teacher if you would like further help or support.
